There are a lot of oncampus student organisations that volunteer and help the Birmingham community. The AIS 2012-13 committee has decided that our group should also encourage volunteering. I am forwarding you one such opportunity. Please read the forwarded email below.

Subject: Cahaba Fry Down

Hi all,
We are finalizing plans for the annual Cahaba Fry Down and would love to
pull in some more volunteers. This is a fun event on the banks of the
Cahaba in Trussville on Sunday, October 7, that raises awareness and money
for the Cahaba River Society. We could use help with a range of activities
in shifts from 10a-2p and 1p-5p. Volunteers help with everything from
ticketing, food sales, supporting the fry-competition teams, and activities
for the kids. If you are available to help, please contact me at
egturnipseed@gmail.com or by phone at (205) 222-9002. As a perk, all
volunteers get a very cool Fry-Down T-shirt! Anyone interested in learning
more about the Society can do so at www.cahabariversociety.org.
